I would like to get those familiar with Houston's opinion on where to get "parts" for DIY projects. For example, I have found that:

Home Depot carries PVC fittings for less than Lowes
Home Depot carries Vinyl tubing at a better price than Lowes

BUT

Lowes has a larger selection of MPT / FPT Nipples and Barbs

Has anyone else "shopped around" for parts for DIY projects? If so, can we start building a listing to try to get down to the best price / selection (objective references only PLEASE.....) for parts in the area?

Or, if you know of a mail order place which is a good shop for this stuff, please let me know.

The plumbing store you were referred to is Owens Plumbing on 518 in League City (yep, been there). They have unusual parts (weird diameter bulkheads, for example). I'm looking for more general like:

Best price / selection of acrylic
Best price / selection on PVC and Vinyl Tube
Best price / selection on (anyone think of something which is useful)

If you can plan ahead and order stuff....I'm real happy with a company I found called Savko (they advertise in FAMA)...
