Sometime soon I’m plumbing in 2 reactors. One for bio pellets one for phosphate remover. Just regular reactors though.

🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 Love mine!!!!!! I only run Octo biospheres though. I think they are made by the same company that Reef Octopus skimmers. They are shaped like BB's so they tumble better and don't clump up like the cylinders. If you decide to go that route, I would highly recommend those.

I guess a component of that question involves the effectiveness of bio pellets themselves. This concept came after I went out. I understand and am in total agreement with, reactors for filtration as you are able to "tune" the flow rate to capture maximum efficiency from various mediums. So the pellets are interesting.

All I can say is I have some BIG fish and I feed A LOT. The pellets keep my PO4 and NO3 manageable at about .25 ppm PO4 and 20 ppm NO3. Without them, my PO4 would be well over .60. I know because I have had it happen when I couldn't get any pellets. And with the amount of waste my fish produce, I don't think macro algae or a scrubber would make a dent.

I recently added bio pellets to my system after much debate (hate making changes to my system) I’ve seen improvement. All of my coral just looks better, my zoas are all open everything seems to be thriving, polyps are bigger than before.

I knew Webster would weigh in on this one. He’s had that reactor for years now with a very successful tank packed full of large healthy fish. If I trusted anybody to talk about a bio pellet reactor he’d be one of the few.

Yup, he and I had a long discussion about it. That’s why I went ahead with it.
