I found a good deal on some of the 275 gallon plastic totes but they had bleach in them. Can they be washed out enough to store reef water in them?

Should be fine. If you still smell bleach after rinsing you could try and pick up some sodium thiosulfate to neutralize it.

Me too, need bigger mixing tanks with my new tank. I'd use a tank that's held bleach any day, much better than most other liquids.

Wow that's a great deal. I want two! Anyone have a large trailer and truck we can go get these? I'll pay for gas.

Hadn't thought about craigslist for these large tanks but good deal. For those who keep these large volumes of water on hand, how do you keep the water "fresh". Are you plumbing some form of closed loop so you can circulate it? I have the 2 50g food grade blue containers and just use drop in jets to circulate. I know these are sealed but would think you would at minimum want to circulate it a few hours before filling top offs/water changes? Or is sealing it enough?

If I am able to get 2 of these I will build a water changing station with them. I'll plumb them together with valves and an external pump. I'll also drill a small hole to drop in an air line with air stone and run an air pump to add oxygen to the water. That's really about all you would need to keep it "fresh".

So, anyone with a truck and trailer want to help me out? :D I may even help buy you a container.

That is the exact place I am getting them. I talked to the guy and I am going today to pick them up. He has brand new ones for 250.
