Every now and then, I’ll look over and my blue hippo tang has all its fins flared out and is aggressively attacking the glass. I believe my dumb but pretty fish has seen its own reflection and is fighting the reflection.

Does anyone else’s fish do this or do I have an ignoramus for a fish?

I’ve had a several fish do that over the years. I even had a snowflake eel that used to do that.

I’d be curious to see an eel trying to fight itself. That must be an interesting sight seeing those teeth flash against the glass.

He was probably the most fun to watch and feed of any fish I ever had. I had him a couple of years until he squeezed through a super tiny crack in the top. I found him dried up on the floor the next afternoon.

So I got this fish from one of our sponsors (That Aquarium Place) and put him in the tank before any other fish because it's my favorite fish. He looked happy for an hour or two so, I went to HEB. I came home and that sucker had dried up behind the tank while I was gone, and there were no other fish in the tank at that time to scare him. He just wanted to jump. Anywho, I was VERY upset, put him back in, and he lived. Hasn't jumped in the last two years ! I think he learned his lesson.

Yours is too dang big and might actually be trying to break his way out of your tank and make his way to Galveston like Dory trying to get home.

Mine sometimes goes frantically back and forth against the front glass too. I was never sure if it was fighting itself or just got ahold of some bad crack.

It's pretty chill most of the time, but at feeding time, it totally gets the zoomies. Instead of trying to grab as many pieces of food in one spot, it will eat one piece, race to the other side of the tank to get one piece, then race back to get another. Maybe that's why it doesn't seem to have grown much in the last four years - it burns as many calories as it takes in when feeding.

My yellow tang thinks he’s boss, so whenever it’s feeding time he flares his fins and starts swimming around the tank trying to keep the other fish from eating. The problem is that there are too many fish and he can’t be at all places at once. So, while he’s swimming around being a bully, the other fish are just chowing away and don’t really care haha

Mine doesn't do anything "stupid" like that. It just eats my corals. Wanna trade?
That’s crazy that your tang eats corals. What kind?

Mainly munches on my kryptonite candy canes and my pink tipped green torch. I think his favorite color is green.
