Our plan was to drain our 20gl storage drum, fill a second time, and drain again, but then wait until the boil order expired to refill. We figure it is also a good a time as any to swap out for all new filters and media/resin at that time as well. Until then I will get my water from a LFS. Overkill? Maybe , but I'm okay with that Thankfully we filled all our ATO reservoirs before we lost water so were good for a few more days.
I have a cheap pool test kit but am getting these strips once the kit expires. Really good tools for the OCD reeferI have these chlorine indicating strips whenever I get paranoid about chlorine/ chloramines in any of my water sources. Very inexpensive, fast, and easy to use.
What is the micron size of the pathogens that make it through? My cousin is a virologist and we’ve had this conversation. Most pathogens won’t get by but some can, and if the city is telling us to boil water because it’s not treated properly, then advising people to forgo this step is irresponsible. Plus, have you seen the condition of some people’s rodi media??
This is not a campaign against RO filtration, just a word of caution in the current situation.
Great just made about 50 gallons... what if we heat it up to 90*+?I reached out to Spectrapure and told them about our boil water situation. Got confirmation NOT to make rodi

had to. My topoff container was empty. I made 10g for now. Also keep in mind I have a 20” chloramines buster on top of my other 6 stages.
thanks for sharing that info.
Yea I told him about my beefed up 10 stage with multiple high capacity carbon/chloramine filters. He still said no.
‘’We are really not sure what could be in the water but what we can confirm is if the city is saying do not use the water for those reasons, there must be some really nasty stuff in there like pathogens, parasites, organics, etc.
I would not advise to using the system with all the cautions of your water supply. “
