A friend posted this on FB and I immediately thought to share it here and see what you guys say. It *sounds* possible, but then, maybe I've watched too many of the "End of the World" shows on Discovery and it's sister channels.

I really doubt it's end of the world, anytime soon anyway, but I have a sudden, irrational urge to pack my kids, pick my hubby up from work, and drive to Canada and keep going as far North as I can.

I think it could happen, but I don't believe it will be as catostrophic as they are making it out to be because the Earth wasn't even around 100 million years ago. In that case, how do they know how bad it will be if it never even happend before? I guess when I'm burning alive in the next few months, I will be proven wrong. :)

So what would be the point of going to Canada? Seems like someone would be just as doomed there as anywhere else...

Back in the days when everyone feared nuclear war with the USSR, I always thought the best place to be was at ground zero - Washington DC. That way, when the bomb went off, you'd never know it. Seems to me that being killed by a mass explosion would not be the most fearful thing, but life afterward just might be. Kinda gloomy to think about.

Steve, have you ever watched any of the "end of the world" scenario shows that come on Discovery or History Channel? They really make you think. And yes, very gloomy to think about. I like watching them, but they also make me feel anxious. You might be right, it might be better to just not see it coming, but the Momma Bear in me makes me want to pack my cubs up and run. Ya know, IF.

I hear ya'. Survival is our most basic instinct.

You Scored as Sole Survivor
you manage to stay alive by yourself by fortifying a position and rationing food, you keep yourself entertained by hibernating or consistently jerking-off

Well, kinda. I'd more likely be at the ranch with the family, remington 700 on top of the barn, AK's and AR's on the front porch, jeep tanks full of gas.

Zombie or human... better not step on my land. :)

Good thing I have watched all the episodes of Man vs Wild, Survivor Man and Apocalypse Man.
