Actually a little surprised, would have thought BRS would go after a smaller outfit or start their own equipment line first.

They will probably start selling live stock too soon enough.

Goes to validate the old saying, "Everything's for sale at the right price."

Sucks at the loss of competition. Makes one wonder how much prices will rise as a result. Many of the LFS's around here use BRS as a pricing guide so when BRS raises the prices on products from this acquisition it will still impact many of us who prefer to shop locally...

Wait until Amazon acquires Disney, Kroger, and BRS.

Not a fan of Marine Depot. I channel most of my purchases to premieum aquariums or aquacave as they don't charge tax to texas. I know BRS does have a few things of their own, which I usually buy (Carbon, Resin, GFO, etc) what makes MD appealing to BRS. Agree with Cody though, the less players, less competition, less sales, prices go up...

MD never treated me wrong, but I've always use BRS for the first choice. If BRS didn't have what I was looking for, I switched over to MD.

Another note, MD also seamed to be about a day shorter on shipping too.

I'm not sure what to think of this one. I used MD a lot and "some" stuff through BRS. I was going to buy a particular sump from BRS recently. As I was chatting with a rep there, to get specific dimensions for my ATS, I was just about to pull the trigger. I got called away, for work, so went back the next day to complete the purchase. The price went up almost 250 bones. I purchased the sump through Saltwatertank.com, when it was all said and done. It was just slightly more expensive than the "original" price BRS had it at, a week prior. Go figure...

I’ve noticed BRS do that more than I’d like over the years. I know there’s a lot that goes into the cost of something but it seems the prices are going up much faster than my pay haha

Yeah, and I should also say that I asked them about the price hike... they told me that the manufacturers are charging more for shipping, which makes sense due to what's happened to the cost of materials over the course of the past year and 3-4 months... I get that.

What I don't get is why another company drop shipped it to me for over 200 dollars less. So... kinda leaves an eyebrow up over here. 🤨
