There are a few species of carpets available, but I think most if not all of them like sand. You also need very strong lighting, and they get huge - like up to 18" across for the smallest species.

the pdf file above is THOROUGH. Thanks for finding and posting it!

No wonder I can't keep an anemone alive. My lighting is nowhere near bright enough.

What kind of lighting do you have, also keep in mind that carpets are known to eat other tank mates.

You realize if it lives it will take up the bulk of your tank? What else do you have in there?

Katie I hate to tell you that is definetly not enough and you should take it back. What size tank do you have? Possibly if it is small and you are set on keeping an anenome you could do a BTA. However I would reccomend that your tank be set up for at least 4 months before getting a anenome. I used to have 130w of PC on my 25G and the BTAs were surviving and growing slowly even with many feeding since I changed over to 300W VHO the BTAs look much better and growing very fast.

I would say you could go with a leather toadstool. They will host in other things than anenomes.

OMG!! A carpet in an 11-gallon is not good. Definitely take the carpet back.

Remember you don't have to have an anemone for your clown. Chance are it is a tank-raised, and won't ever go to an anemone. But for the record, what species is it? Most ocellaris these days been more prone to host feather dusters or corals than the expected anemone.

Also, lighting is pretty critical for anemones, as well as high water flow, which chances are in such a small tank there wasn't adequate circulation.
