I know this is a touchy subject for a lot of folks, but please keep in mind the problems caused by feral cats. They're a huge problem in Galveston where we have a lot of shore birds that nest on the ground, including several endangered and threatened species. Cats, both house pets and feral, are the #1 cause of unnatural bird deaths in the US. As conservation minded folks, this is something we need to think seriously about...

Just release a bunch of wild dogs down there and the cat problem is solved.

Actually they are a big problem in our neighborhood. Owners don't realize (I think) that sweet little kitty is a well fed killing machine that loves baby birds.

My dog is more of problem for us in our yard than all the cats in our neighborhood haha!

But seriously, we have a neighbor who feeds all the feral cats in our neighborhood so they're everywhere. I even had to cut 6 holes into our laundry room drywall to find the newborn litter of kittens a stray decided to hide in our wall. She got in through an opening in our garage. I do love cats, we have 2 indoor cats, but could definately do without all the strays. Have your pets spayed or neutered folks!
