Yes, and it is really helpful if you can get a flow going on it so that it rolls and is constantly moving. The rolling helps keep everything lit evenly and prevents die-off.
How fast does it grow? I keep seeing posts from people "complaining" that theirs grow like czazy and they keep having to trim it back.
Mine has not seem to grow much if at all in 2 months. I keep it under a 40W incandescent bulb.
If you are looking for more growth and you have the nutrients to support it, you may need to change out the bulb. something brighter and under the correct spectrum (6500K range).
I have a Coralife mini-light over my sump on my 37g with a 9W 6500K and 9W 10000K and the macro that I have grows slowly but it grows. I also have grape caulerpa and a few others in my refugium as well. The grape caulerpa definitely grows faster than the other two types.
