Im really scared for my clown. It was a single fish, maybe 1 1/2 inches long by himself in a tank. Completely healthy, eating like a pig, and just starting to host in a frogspawn. Yesterday I put in a juvenile purple tang, maybe twice his size. Watched them for a little while and they seemed okay with each other. Woke up this morning and saw all of this white gunk on him and his fins are a little torn, he also completely lost his appetite, is running into the tank walls, and is really lethargic. Is the purple tang beating him up or is it some kind of illness? 833E5E58-72C4-4C63-9A3E-5B96DD4494F4.jpeg CB7EB3DE-4437-4B65-95A6-CD813CA3D7A6.jpeg 5FEB6219-00EF-48AE-BD71-A6F049C162FA.jpeg

Purple tangs are pretty aggressive. I’m certain that tang is what caused this.

How's the Purple Tang look? Did you QT it at all? Could you have brought a disease into the tank that the Purple Tang was successful at fighting off but the Clown isn't?

Didn’t QT the purple, got him straight from Aquarium Warehouse. I wish I did though because he was shipped to the store only an hour before I bought him... he looks and acts very healthy but still. I bought him and a lawnmower blenny together and now they’re in their own tank. Keeping a close eye on the clown now and have meds on hand in case it is some kind of disease

I would venture to say the purple tang brought something in with it. The tang being the newly added fish I can’t see it beating on the clown .

Currently out of the house, I’ll post a picture of the tang when I get back home. He’s acting really healthy, even picking at the hair algae already.
