I Recently acquired a CPR Protein Skimmer in a trade. It will not produce any foam in the collection cup. There is a chip knocked out of one corner of the plastic were the collection cup sits. Is this supposed to be air tight seal or what am I doing wrong.

if the pump is producing foam you need to lower the collection cup until the bottom of the cone is about an 1/8 of an inch from the top of the water/foam. they are rather dificult to get adjusted unless you have an auto top off. as the water level in the tank decreases so will the water in the skimmer. they are decent skimmers as long as you are willing to adjust them often.
