What are your experiences with the ones from Lowes, Home Depot, or Radio Shack?

I got one at Academy in the fishing section made for water use. Only 15.00 and works great.

Do you have the name or the SKU for it. I went over there last time you posted it about it and the Academy on Sherpad/59s had no clue about it.

It's the Airguide Fisherman's Temp Sensor. The sku on the receipt is 6033898 and the one on the package is 2940200211.

At the Academy in Humble it was over by the boat trailer stuff across the isle from it. They actually have 2 but if you look at them they are identical just different names on the package. The Airguide was on clearance for $7.88 and the other one was $15.

The temp probe is made to be submersible.

I had the same as spham happen to one I got at Wal-Mart. I pulled it out and got one of these and the one from Wal-Mart started working correctly after it dried out. I sealed it back up with some silicon and it was been working fine again in the water.

I can't get any Academy to find that in their system. I have called most of them around town and even the one in Humble.

You could always buy it online at the link I sent you. Im willing to look at the Academey up here in Conroe and purchase for someone if needed. Just let me know how much you want to pay for it so I dont spend too much.

Edit
Home Depot's weather proof indoor outdoor thermometer lasted all of 10 minutes before it was reading 100. Shane will you be at Academy anytime soon I don't want you to go out of your way, when I can order it online.
