I cut a piece off on the table saw. I just eyeballed what size for the width. Then I took agg crate and put that on top. I used a permanent marker to mark every other square in the egg crate. I drilled a whole where I marked. Then, to give it legs, I just took some 5/8" acrylic rod and cut 4 equal lengths. A little pvc glue to put them in place and I was good.
It is not hard, but it would be without a drill press
I didn't have a forsner bit. I just had a spade bit laying around. You get pretty good holes when you drill in from both sides. The spade bit self centers, so it's good.The regular drill bits work fine for cutting the holes, and he's right, you absolutely NEED a drill press. There are also acrylic specific drill bits that I recommend. They leave a much cleaner hole. Or you could just get a laser cutter and spend a few months working out designing software
