Got my first batch of saltwater mixing in my mixing station. Never had one before, will be nice to come home to 65 gallons of water ready for water changes tomorrow. It goes through my carbon bottle first then the 5 stage rodi. Left tank is saltwater and right tank is just rodi. Stole the design for the header off of google. I might have messed up on the up pipe and had to splice it, hey it works! I know there is a redundancy valve but I had to find what worked at Lowe's. The brass piece was the last piece I had to get and it has an extra valve. Just one small step towards my 125g down. 16efa4f2aef2c2d116510e25eec79e92.jpg

Congrats! Out of curiosity, your account is almost a decade old. How have you been getting by without an RO unit, and did you take a break from the hobby?

Long story. Yea, I took a break somewhat. Before I "got out" I was pretty into LPS and was slowly transitioning into SPS but work and other hobbies got in the way. I had an rodi but it was just a 55g drum and I mixed small batches of sw in buckets. Once I sold my sw tank, I only had freshwater tanks and sold almost all of my sw gear. I tried to get back into reefing but money and time kept me from diving in. I've had my 40 breeder for a few years, but wasn't really taking care of it. I didn't have any coral, only my clowns (not the ones in my profile pic, those are my old ones) and some snails. Was using tap water and occasionally getting water from City Pets. Just recently I broke my 125g fw tank down and was going to sell it, but my wife and I decided to try a bigger sw tank and set it up in the living room vs our dining room (less foot traffic). I'm in the process of building it a new stand and trying to piece together a new build. Slow going but hopefully when it's done it'll be nice.

So I can Attach a water hose and run it into the house. Haven't decided if I want to try and put a nozzle on the end of the hose, IDK what my pump would do being capped off.

Ok, I was wondering if it would be used for anything tank related or just to empty your containers. Just an fyi, brass can leach copper into the water so you don't want any brass touching your water AFTER the RODI. I use a brass tap from my washing machine to feed my RODI unit but the resin removes any copper from the water.

I think a 3/4" threaded coupling might thread onto a water hose. If it will, you could use that with a ball valve.

since you were shopping at lowes - go to the irrigation section - you'll find adapters for PVC pipe to hose pipe thread, pretty cheap.
And while I would avoid the brass, my guess is that since the water is not in contact with it while sitting, only while passing through, it might not pick up enough metal to cause you any issues. Since it is cheap and easy to remedy, I still think I'd change it out.
