Fish dying rant (1 Viewer)

We are 8 months into the hobby and have hit a wall of frustrations .
We have a 170 gallon Red Sea tank , perfect parameters, feed good food and yet our fish are dying.
nitrates.2 / phosphate .2/DKH 9.1/ magnesium is good/ dosing Red Sea part and and B.

Clam is fabulous, wellso are looking ok, Duncan is great, grande Polyps great, montipora is happy, Acans are thriving/ torch/ frogspawn, mushrooms , Trach all good..

We have a Banghi cardinal and one clown since the beginning , a yellow tang and a kole tank for at least 6 months and 1 anthias that seem to be ok.

But for no apparent reason , and not all at the same time we have recently loss a blue cleaner Wrasse that we thought was super healthy, a melanararis after about 10 days in the tank, a leopard wrasse / 2 anthias / copper band butterfly . I realize the copper banded is a finicky fish so I wasnt terribly surprised about him .

Not sure this makes any sense but I am looking for any thoughts, ideas.

To be very honest, the quarantine process is non existent. We have a QT tank, but have never put anything in it to quarantine it. We probably wrongly think that buying our fish and coral from one of 3 very reputable LFS that we are ok.
Would putting the fish in quarantine keep them from dying? Probably not , will it simply keep my DT from potentially getting infected. I am sure this is the newbie in me, but I get so excited when I buy new coral .Sometimes I dip and sometimes not. More often not, I am always hesitant to buy fish, because I feel like I am issuing their death sentence.

Wild guess is you have marine velvet in the tank. Makes sense that your clown is still alive because they have very thick slime coats and resistant to most diseases. I've had velvet twice now that wiped 3/4 of my stock and both times, my clowns survived.

Do yourself a favor, remove all fish, go fallow for 6 weeks, treat the remaining fish you have with copper or chloroquine phosphate, and then reintroduce them in 6 weeks to the tank.

From this point on, QT all fish for 30 days and you'll be fine.

Lol fishface ur not alone! What fish stores do u buy at? I qt all fish and I gotten away with only a2 week qt process. And corals I dip and I re plug them! But most of the time if it's not ick it can be internal parasites! So I treat all fish in the qt tank with prazipro. It works wonders! And over time it will get easier! Don't worry and keep swimming!!! Lol! I'm surprised that the wrasse died that weird!

Except for melanarus all fish that you have lost are sensitive. The cleaner wrasse may have starved because your system
doesn't have a lot of fish for him to feed on. May have more to do with selection than your system.

I tend to agree with David, especially if the fish were juveniles, which is what most lfs have in stock.
