Heeeyyyyyy yoooou guyyyys!
Well it’s been awhile since I updated… no clue what to go into because I’m too lazy to read back on what I have reported… so, Cliff Notes…
1. GHL replaced with Apex + Trident.
2. CWT Aquatics sump for the CWS.
3. Barely use the skimmer anymore. Gotta feed a lot to keep Phos in range. Totally the scrubber’s fault!
4. Two part + balling method deployed due to parameter issues recently. Ca Rx and Kalk Rx will be back in action very soon.
5. New Avast Kalk Stirrer (The Icecap split at a seam… odd…).
6. Built a little “fish room” under our staircase.
7. Built an infinite water ATO reservoir with simple control board.
8. Kamoer AWC system.
9. Testing some Jebao MOW-22’s and liking them. Only mentioning them because they have been reliable wavemakers for several months now.
10. Added/built a whole house chloramine filter (nasty stuff!). Being a reefer made this a simple task. Thanks MARSH!
11. Bought one of those bubble fish catching devices. Got an Angel out with it. Yeah… not a dud product there! The key is patience and feeding through it several days before you pull the trigger on a fish you want out!
12. Broke down my nano and subbed it out for a 40B that I lovingly named “The 86ed!” It’s located under the staircase (that pseudo fish room mentioned above) with some dead space under our staircase (believe it or not, that has a name too… The Harry Potter Closet… haha). This room is still a WIP, but it has a lot in there to date, with more coming it’s way.
I think that’s about it. Well, there are a few more purchases here and there, but a lot of it was failed beta testing that I won’t go into. All in my own dime…
Lot of snake oil and/or smoke-n-mirror products out there these days… but, modern reefing is still eleventy billion times easier than it used-to be! Gotta love that and that keeps me waiting on what else these guys will automate!
Unfortunately, my tank is looking a bit rough due to work life balance issues. I’ve killed more fish than I’d like to admit, and even more (expensive) corals and inverts. It’s funny how the cheapest corals always hang in there though! I’m keeping them in the tank until the vitality is back up to par in the tank… then, to the 86ed!
Hope you’re all well!
