I was once told by a friend here, “go big, or go home!” [emoji23] LOL

Here’s the new skimmer, too.

This pic is from the other day. It’s still breaking in but doing a pretty good job!

Aquamaxx makes one of the best budget skimmers I’ve ever owned. The foam is nearly like a Deltec.

What do y’all think phosphate RX is?

Diluted lanthanum chloride.

Just get a bottle of SeaKlear Commercial Phosphate Remover. It will last forever.

You can dilute it with RODI. Saves a ton of money over the hobby oriented phosphate reducers.

I’ve diluted at 5ml/L typically but have gone up to 10ml/L with 10 micron socks and have seen no ill effects.

No reason you can’t go more diluted say 1ml/L or even .5ml/L.

Phosphate RX is definitely diluted LaCI3.

If I had to guess, I’d say about 20-30%. Or diluted down by 70-80%.

How’s the ozone system working? How’s the water clarity?
Sorry man! Been swamped!

Ozone is offline as my ORP has been above 300 with no issues (pretty clear). This is just with my UV online (changed the bulb last week) and switching my nutrient export to more old school methods.... Caulerpa to be specific. A nice young lady on this site hooked me up with a bag awhile back... It's grown into a big ball of "holy moly"! LOL! I'm going to have to upgrade my fuge light from that Tunze I have to my freshwater AI light (similar to the Prime HD over my nano).

I have basically started all over again, and I'm going through the ugly phase. I plan on getting a couple of new fish at T&T this weekend because I lost a lot of them with the choramine issue I had to battle. Dino's really took the tank over. Sad, but I'm trying to stay positive about it. I have a little bit of algae in there, but I'll just let it do it's thing for now.

I did switch to a standard calcium reactor and just got a Kamoer for it. I'm manually dosing/dripping for now, but I'll set the pump up this weekend.

I also plan on switching out my sump soon, too. Due to my awkward dimensions (all things considered), I really need to get something a little more custom. I should have that in a couple of months.

Sorry so distant lately! Again... just been super busy!

Heeeyyyyyy yoooou guyyyys!

Well it’s been awhile since I updated… no clue what to go into because I’m too lazy to read back on what I have reported… so, Cliff Notes…

1. GHL replaced with Apex + Trident.
2. CWT Aquatics sump for the CWS.
3. Barely use the skimmer anymore. Gotta feed a lot to keep Phos in range. Totally the scrubber’s fault!
4. Two part + balling method deployed due to parameter issues recently. Ca Rx and Kalk Rx will be back in action very soon.
5. New Avast Kalk Stirrer (The Icecap split at a seam… odd…).
6. Built a little “fish room” under our staircase.
7. Built an infinite water ATO reservoir with simple control board.
8. Kamoer AWC system.
9. Testing some Jebao MOW-22’s and liking them. Only mentioning them because they have been reliable wavemakers for several months now.
10. Added/built a whole house chloramine filter (nasty stuff!). Being a reefer made this a simple task. Thanks MARSH! 😎
11. Bought one of those bubble fish catching devices. Got an Angel out with it. Yeah… not a dud product there! The key is patience and feeding through it several days before you pull the trigger on a fish you want out!
12. Broke down my nano and subbed it out for a 40B that I lovingly named “The 86ed!” It’s located under the staircase (that pseudo fish room mentioned above) with some dead space under our staircase (believe it or not, that has a name too… The Harry Potter Closet… haha). This room is still a WIP, but it has a lot in there to date, with more coming it’s way.

I think that’s about it. Well, there are a few more purchases here and there, but a lot of it was failed beta testing that I won’t go into. All in my own dime…

Lot of snake oil and/or smoke-n-mirror products out there these days… but, modern reefing is still eleventy billion times easier than it used-to be! Gotta love that and that keeps me waiting on what else these guys will automate! 😎

Unfortunately, my tank is looking a bit rough due to work life balance issues. I’ve killed more fish than I’d like to admit, and even more (expensive) corals and inverts. It’s funny how the cheapest corals always hang in there though! I’m keeping them in the tank until the vitality is back up to par in the tank… then, to the 86ed!

Hope you’re all well!
