A few! Thanks for reminding me.
1. Removing sump and putting my old one back in. The Marine Depot/Trigger sump has a lot of great features, but it's just too small for my tank. Back to the drawing board. I'll likely have to do a custom one.
2. Had a flatworm population starting to build up. It was bad enough that after two days, most of the places where the glass meets were covered with them. Thousands, perhaps. This is my fault as I got too anxious when shutting down the last tank, and I wanted to save the coral that was already encrusted to the rocks in there. So, I added 10 blue/green chromis and 2 Springer's Damsels and they are pretty much gone. I'm actually really happy about this! I see none on the glass, as of today. There are some on the cyano, though. LOL! (I dare not disrupt whatever they are doing to it).
3. Clearwater Algae Turf Scrubber is on it's 10th day now. It's already got turf on it. Pretty happy with that... or should I be?
4. Got the UV Sterilizer where I wanted it finally. It's mounted correctly now.
5. I added a cheap Ozonizer to the tank, too. It, and the air drying beads, cost me around $90. I'm testing it for someone. I just need to get a reaction vessel setup so I can run it safely. My UV keeps the tank between 308 and 330mV easily... I'll run the ozone to get me to 375-400mV mark. Yes, I have always chased ORP numbers. (guilty)
6. I bought 153 lbs of dry/base rock, and around 70 lbs of tonga branch from David/Reeftopia. I would have picked up that wrasse if I knew it was for sale, when I was there. LOL (He just listed it today). I'm basically taking out all of my rock, and using this rock in the display. All of this rock has undergone about a week (don't remember when I got the rock from him) of a high flow saltwater bath, with carbon and skimming in the background. Next is seeding it up with bacteria (Brightwell product will be used... my first time doing that). I'll use the rock, I have in the tank now, later, after cooking it, and ridding it of all pests. Unfortunately this means my corals will take a big hit. All for the greater good, I suppose.
7. Lost the powder brown and the hippo to ich. The melanarus is MIA, too. All the others appear fine and fat. I watched that BRSTv episode on ich management and ich eradication, recently. Then I went and read the article on R2R about it. Makes a lot of sense, and I guess I've always just done ich management because I didn't like shortening the lifespan of the fish by using chemicals it may have never needed to begin with. Looks like my thought processes have changed... a bit. My QT has always been a month of inspection, then add. Usually, no chemicals. When chemicals were used, hardly ever was copper used. Though... I've always had some on hand, with copper test kits at the ready.
8. I'm getting a new return pump soon. The one I have is too flaky, for lack of better words. This pump is not putting out what it should, and it's touchy. I wish I could put a flow meter on there to see if it's actually doing what it's spec'd to do (or anywhere near that). I see that Sicce has a new DC return pump... may try that.
9. Eye-ballin' the newer ATI LED setups for my tank, too. They look great on video, but would really like to see several success stories before I take the plunge on something that pricy.
See! Just a few.
