Hey I don't know if you know this, but I had picked a couple of those snails up that are on the jetties, and they are not the nicest things.

I have had one for about a year now and the other day I realized that my tank didn't have anymore snails in it. You know how it is they just die off from time to time. so off to the lfs for some snails. I got 4 and added them to the tank. The next day there was one empty shell, and the galveston guy was on a second one were the opening would be covering it up. At this point I didn't know if they died and he is just cleaning up. so off to the store for 4 more. Well this moring the son of a bitch was at the top of the tank holding on to one and sucking it to death. So I would not recommend them. James, Eric maybe you could tell me more about them. or anybody else.

Neptune's used to keep them in stock...I think that they are called Murex snails, and they are cannibals. They eat snails of all kinds, except maybe their own. They will decimate your snail population in no time flat, as you have already found out.

Dump 'em.
