I love the EV idea but I can't do with the milage and constant 15-20 minutes stop to charge up. I'm probably going to get a truck next so I can tow and haul things to plant in my yard.

Yeah, I don't drive over 200 miles a day so charging is a non issue for me. I wouldn't road trip with the Bolt since it is one of the slowest charging ev's. Most of them you would stop every 3 hours for 30 minutes and it is recommended you take longer breaks regardless anyway. Fatigue, dvt, etc.... To be honest, I used to be a hard core one shot only gas stop road tripper, then I did one with my dog when she was a puppy and needed to stop for walks. Never again will I one shot a long trip without breaks. Still would not road trip with the Bolt though since it is a 30-60 min stop each time for it since it is like1/3 or less the charge rate of other cars.

Home depot delivers so I have just been using that for larger or heavy things like pavers or paver base.

Haha, I'm glad you posted the second set of pictures. From the first picture, it looks like you just drove it up on some angled metal with nothing supporting it, and I didn't think that would end well. The last picture shows how it works, and it's pretty cool. It sure beats the old floor jack, and trying to figure out where to put the jack stands so they don't cause too much damage and the car ends up somewhat level.

Yes great to do your own oil changes. I used to have 4 cars now down to 2. Walmart usually have good sales on mobile 1 synthetic $22.99 for 5 quartz jug…can’t beat that.

Again, EV is cool! It's definitely a commute vehicle and not a long trip car as far as I'm concerned.at least it isn't for now. They do some pretty cool stuff with them like power the house during black out (they are just giant mobile batteries).

Yes, the low rise car lift is way better than jack + stands. It takes so much work to get these low cars in the air with 4 stands. My next lift will either be a mobile/transportable lift or a mid-rise or high rise lift so I'm not on my back anymore.

I use to do the Walmart thing. I switched back to the autopart store because after coupon code, it was almost the same. It might be worth it now since oil prices went up.

I hate how low they are cause you have to Jack them a good amount to get the stand under but they are fun to ride

My wife's SQ5 i put from dynamic to off-road and the air suspension lifts like 10" allowing you to unbolt the underbody and do an oil change.. ofcourse the recommended procedure is to use the tube where the non dipstick is and vacuum out the oil. It never gets it all out. Dumb electronic dipstick.

I have never seen or heard of electronic dip stick. 🤔

Not getting all the old oil out is no biggie imo. I give it the same though of mind like doing a water change. It dilutes the bad with the good enough so it don't bother me.

On a side note. Why am I a "guest" when I have been on this board since 2007 yet BigRick is "OG Reefer?" Sure I went away for a while but still the same account.

The "guest" designation means you haven't paid the $35 or whatever dues within the last 12 months, and you won't be able to post things for sale or see certain forums. If you have paid, contact the treasurer.

Should I not mention the oil is green? Audi's use moly based lube... I pay ~135 for 5 liters for top tech moly and it holds almost 8. With a 3k miles service interval...smh.... its 300+ for a stealership oil change...

That's crazy!! I don't do the stealership thing unless the car is under warranty and/or I can't do it myself for a fraction of the price. Thats why i dont have a luxury vehicle (and because im cheap when it comes to cars in most cases). These EV cars are gonna be the end of me wrenching though. I'm not messing with those electronics.

Whats worse is they use star driver nuts throughout the engine so you need special sockets and drivers. I see EV in my future soon. WARRANTY....why I love lexus... free oil changes.. free loaners for days... audi gives u nothing unless you pay ridiculous 3-5k service packs

Nothing really to wrench on with an EV. I looked through my maint schedule... 7,500 mile tire rotations, cabin air filter replacement, and 150,000 mile battery coolant replacement are basically it. If you one peddle drive you are supposed to use the brakes once a week to stop at least once so they do not seize and to clear rust off.

Some EV's are getting aftermarket support for coilovers and things like that so you can still do some stuff. Otherwise, yeah, drivetrain tinkering is probably going to go away, at least for new cars. With safety features needing sensors and cameras even body work may end up being something you can't do yourself.

2nd one.....aint going back. 0-60 in 3.5; 100mpge. No brainer, low operating costs.

I don't road trip, rather use airline miles to get places.....used a supercharger only once in the last two years....drive 100+ miles a day for work, no probs.

My sister got hers not long ago - one ugly car IMO for $72k (this color additional $2k) especially the inside…all you get is an iPad
