I was maintaining a journal on another site. But I’m wanting to get to know some reefers closer to me and not be so disconnected. The hobby is dead in Lake Charles but 2 hours isn’t much of a drive.

Tank: Drilled 22g Mr. Aqua
Overflow: Fiji Cube Eclipse small
Plumbing: plumbed by yours truly
Stand: built by yours truly
Sump: 10g Aqueon with Fiji cube baffles
Lighting: (2) AI Primes
Flow: MP10 and return pump is a Sicce DC
ATO: Reef Breeders Prism w/Aqueon 2.5g
Dosing: Jaebo DP-4 w/Blantons bottles lol
Skimmer: IceCap K100
Heater: Classic Ehiem controlled by Inkbird
UV: Green Killing Machine
Algae Scrubber: Santa Monica HOG1

Tank is currently 2 months old but a lot of the rock was transferred over from a smaller build
That was setup around 6 months ago.

Currently I’m changing out 4g a week. Matched temp, salinity and alkalinity. Clean glass, clean skimmer cup, stir stand, blow off rocks, run MP10 on nutrient transfer mode for 2 hours.

Daily I dose KZ nano power pack and Microbacter7 along with feeding the fish.

My Alk swings from 8.9 to 8.4 every two days. I had been hand dosing that amount but I’ve since hooked up the doser to take care of that. It must be working because every time I test with salifert it’s right on the money.

My phosphate and aptasia are my two things I’m about to focus on. It’s hanging around 0.12 to 0.18 and I’d like to get that down below 0.1. I don’t have a nitrate problem. In fact I actually have to dose them 1 a week.
Im about to start dosing Lanthanam Chloride per instructions(spelling?). With a 10 micron filter pad. For the aptasia I’m going with Bergis. I’m also looking into starting a DIY coral snow method soon

The nudi's should help a lot but get more than 1.. get a few and be patient. If there is no predator like a wrasse in the tank the nudi's should do the job in time. Welcome to the Forum!

Out of curiosity, why are you dosing micro 7 daily?
It’s just a couple drops. I was emulating someone’s method. Don’t know if it helps or not. From what I gather it’s basically carbon dosing correct?

My water is crystal clear I know that. When I’ve run out. My water clarity suffers. It comes in the mail and I start it up again and the clarity returns

I'd agree it's a form of carbon dosing. Mirco 7 is just a bacterial additive that breaks up waste and helps establish a bio film. Some of the bacteria binds with waste and then is removed by your protien skimmer and/or filter floss. Which is what carbon dosing is. If it's working for you go for it. I was just curious since I've never heard of anyone dosing like that.

I'm just curious now so going to ask questions, 1. You're dosing a bacterial additive and run a uv sterilizer? Do you do these on opposite time frames? I.e shut off the uv for a time after dosing the bacteria? 2. Are you feeding any of your coral? With the bacteria dosing you shouldn't have an issue with po4 unless you're running the uv 24/7 and killing what you're adding in. Or if you are feeding the coral i'd opt for a wetter skim or a little bit bigger water change.

It’s only a 3w UV filter yes I run it 247. I feed LPS fauna, reef roids, and a fozen mixture of three different cubes. I slice a piece of of each one to equal up to about half a cube, sometimes a little more. Yes I drain and rinse the frozen food to try and clean it a little bit. They’re Mysis PE, calanus PE and marine cusine. I feed my fish flakes daily. Corals get target fed once a week with that list and there’s a broadcast feeding once a week with that list. I run my skimmer 247 and I have an algae scrubber that’s brand new that I’m tryin to get producing. It runs for 8 hours

The main reason for the UV was that I kept seeing slight bacterial blooms whenever I’d feed the LPS fauna pellets to my LPS. But it makes their color go nuts.

The blooms were also accompanied by a strange chemical, citrusy smell. I started running the UV and it never happened again. Keep in mind this is a nano/possibly pico sized UV. It’s nowhere near what you large tank guys use or think of when we say UV

There was a Nano from nano reef who dosed the KZ Power pack (Pohls Xtra, LPS aminos, Coral Vitalizer, Sponge power) along with MB7. That’s how I ended up here. I’ve just been emulating his routine since setup. This isn’t a dry rock setup either if that makes a difference. It’s a Tampa Bay Saltwater setup. The power pack is dosed per instructions and the MB7 is just a few drops daily.
