I recently ordered some Caulerpa Prolifera and a [FONT=arial, helvetica, sans-serif]Stocky Cerith Snail from this company. I was home when the package arrived and opened it right away. The snail arrived dead the plant leaves are half brown.

I hesitated to order from them for a long time due to the fact that the price of shipping far outweighs the price of the product but my schedule is such that the convenience of on line ordering is sometimes worth it. I suspect the plant will grow healthy eventually and my shrimp made short work of the dead snail. I don’t care about the seventy five cents I lost on the snail and I’m not about to pay another $16 to gamble on them sending me another plant in better condition.

Just wanted to share.

Michael

That's too bad about the Caulerpa, I've ordered from them several times and have always gotten really nice specimens.

But you ordered a SINGLE snail?????

Mail order live anything is always pricey but their 2 day shipping is actually pretty competitive.
Also, many snails arrive stunned and can take a day to recover.
But never order just one. With snails and small hermits you pretty much have to expect some DOA.

i was ordering a bunch of other snails from another place already and just wanted to add SOMETHING to my order since I was already paying $16 shipping for a $9 plant. I was just like 'sure, throw this in there too...'

In the spirit of fairness I'll post the follow up.

GCE gave me a full refund, including shipping. Their policies do no include shipping refunds so that was a nice surprise.

I've ordered from them before and had no issues. Some of the algae was a much smaller portion than expected but others were very substantial. I've definitely had worse experiences online.

Glad they made it right!

My macro orders typically look like this.
That smaller one is bright blue in the tank.
And the bags are about 10" tall.

Sorry for your loss but this is august, its a lot harder to get anything in alive when its riding around all day in a hot truck.
If I do order when its this hot it is for overnight delivered by 10 am
