Hang in there had 2, 350 gal tanks split seams this summer and Im still alive. Any chance you lost electricity causing sump to overflo

No. Running water height in sump is set so that if pump/electricity fails there is room for water coming down from tank. In addition the pump section of the sump was down to an inch deep.

I'm going to add 10-15 gallons back to the sump at noonish, wait until 4pm when I get off to see if there are any leaks from the sump. If not then im going to plug the pump back in and start watching for plumbing leaks.

AS weird as it sounds it is my hope that it is a plumbing leak as opposed to split seam in the sump.

Makes me sick about the external pan world pump for the calcium reactor. It wasn't hooked up or running but it was 3/4 submerged so salt water was definitely in the electronics of the motor. I'm just hopeful I can disassemble it, flush everything with ro/di water, dry it, spray it all down with electronics cleaner and hopefully it will run.

So sorry to hear about this, Steve. I hope it turns out to be an easy fix.

I'm having a bad day myself, but I'll start my own thread so as not to distract from your issue.

Full of saltwater

Kind of hard to see but it’s full of saltwater

Dunked all parts in ro/di water several times now. Very unnatural to dunk the stator and rotor...

I'm just not seeing any evidence of leaks. All of the joints and unions are dry. I'm starting to wonder if its a case of dirty filter socks...

Guess I will know at 4-5pm today.

So running w/out filter socks at the moment, will be putting a hole in the side of the box to allow water to bypass if/when this ever happens again.. Guess I should get the float switch hooked up. :cautious:

I’m surprised that failsafe wasn’t engineered up front. Socks clog fast! Glad you found it though!

Damn that sucks.. Glad you found it.

You going to drill some holes in the top of the sock area to act as an emergency overflow port?

For the pump stator windings, as long as the coating on the wrap isn't damaged you should be fine. You may need to replace the brushes tho. Get a bunch of those silica desiccant packets and put the pump parts in a tupperware with them for a couple of days to suck all the moisture out and then reassemble the pump. I have done this a few times with submerged pool pump motors and it worked like a charm.
