So are you trying to keep a cold water tank but failing, or what?

I'm feeling better about our electric bill. It was $326 for a 4800 sq. ft. house with crappy single pane windows, 3 A/C units, and a pool. We keep it at 77 all the time. The 294g stays around 77-78, the 150g is around 84 thanks to using a glass top.
That is better than mine. I think part of my problem is an 18 year old 10 seer 4 (or was it 4.5) ton A/C unit. It needs to go but I don't have the cash to replace it right now.
My usage for May was 5580 which was a huge uptick from April at 3734 .
I'll have to look into those. My AC unit is 20 years old and I have single pane windows. Even with the AC cranked on full blast the house gets up to 76 during the day. I dread having to pay for a new AC unit, new windows, and a new roof too. Bills bills bills...That would probably make a big difference. We spent a fortune last year replacing our A/C units with 21 SEER multispeed units. It's hard to compare apples to apples due to different weather, different number of people in the house, etc., but it seems we save around $100 per month with the newer units. The most noticeable difference is when the weather is warm but not super hot, because then it runs at a lower speed and controls the humidity much better than the old single-speed unit.

Yeah I know. We've talked about this a few times. I just have to swallow the pill. I'm sure it will pay for itself.Your return on investment is how you should be thinking about it.... if the roof ain’t leaking then leave it alone and get what you can out if it. Of the 3, double pane windows will show you the quickest return on your investment, then the a/c.
When you go to sell your house, people will notice the double pane windows before they will notice the a/c... just sayin
