Actually, peppermint shrimp aren't really under shrimp regulations or the ghost shrimp regulations. The ghost shrimp that are talked about, aren't what hobbyists consider ghost shrimp. Ghost shrimp are a shoreline species that lives in burrows on the beaches, and isn't really a true shrimp.

But, just because there isn't a limit, doesn't mean you should take as many as you can. Be consideriate and take only the minimum that you need.

Anyone gone lately?

Went last night and there was nothing.....came back before heading back to Houston and tides were ripping the beach up so left empty handed.

Brought back 4 peps tonight. The ones that I caught were small, 3/4-1". Spent about 2 hrs collecting. I was on the rock groin in front of the Comadore Hotel. I caught them in the relatively calm water in holes between BIG rocks. Look for big openings around the biggest rocks away from the open water. Think 1 to 3 rocks away from the waters edge. Good luck and have fun, I did.

When the surfers get out of the water it will be warm enough, I expect that will be roughly 68-69 degrees and should be near the end of March/beginning of April depending on the weather; at least thats how it was along the Alabama Gulf coast.

Wonder if anybody has devised a trap for catching them, like the coke bottle turned in with food in it. Might be easier than other options?

bugs on the rock groins?

Hey guys,

?, When I went to Galveston to collect peps this past fall, I saw what looked like silver bugs on the rocks....well they looked more like grey colored silverfish...they were fast and startled me to be quite honest. Does anyone know what they are? they were all over the place. Are they some kind of pod?
thanks

i dont know the scientific name but i call them water roaches. If you leave you bait on a rock they will come up and eat it
