I have small tank from Planet Aquarium (18” wide by 21” tall by 30” long) which I am setting up in a peninsula style using a Modular Marine external overflow.

I decided to mount an adjustable height 8020 slotted rail on the wall to go over the tank for my Kessil lights.

This is the hardware I used to attach the Kessil lights to the slotted rail which provides good stability and also the ability to angle them if I like. I don’t get any seated “blindness” from the LED’s using the Kessil Narrow Reflector which is also great at reducing light spill for this narrow tank.

I’ve been running these lights for about three months. Each one covers about a 24” cube without the narrowing lenses. You’ll most likely need a second light with them both mounted no more than 8-9” above the water. Unless you’re only lighting a fish only tank.

Thanks for the reply Glenn. I do have two lamps but just showed one in the demo.

That’s a nice clean setup. None of the Kessil mounts would have looked right on a peninsula.

Thanks for the positive comments. I am changing out the Hillman screw for a shorter one and replacing the wingnut with a locking nut to make a cleaner look and also make it easier to tighten down the 8020.net bracket to the slotted frame. The cabling from the light also fits in the 1515 channel out of view.

This is a small tank and I am going with 2 Kessils. I was a MH guy until recently and the Kessils replicate the look of MH best to me. Maybe a bit more shimmer lines that what I am used to seeing but I want to avoid the supplemental T5 or LED strips for now to try and keep the cleanest light fixture look. That may change later.

The rock in this tank is big (much bigger than the pics shows) and consists of 2 pieces of Haitian rock that I purchased a couple of years ago. The rock is elevated on PVC so I can put in a deeper sandbed. I really love jawfish and want to give them a decent home. Not sure yet what I am going to put on the rock.
