I watched the second video. I have been using my wood stove since 1989. Hard wood is the best. I get skids for free mostly just down the street. Works even better with a fan to blow cooler air over it. I just smoke the wood inside it. That usually provides enough heat in my well insulated 900 sq foot home.

It goes without saying that if you live in a house along the gulf coast you should get a generator. Its not flashy nor may you ever need it but they can make the difference between being relatively comfortable and completely miserable.

For instance I have had mine since 2014 and only ever needed it twice (including this past week).

This one is similar to mine but even better since it can run on Propane and Gas.

I saw in a gardening group I follow that the weather channel was predicting another freeze in March. I hope it isn't true, but if it is I will definitely be following some of the recommendations that came out of this past week!

Last week might have convinced me to finally get a generator - we'll see. I've lived in this area 34 years and only wished I had one twice - last Monday and Ike. It's not so much the upfront cost (unless I go with a Generac), but having yet one more engine to maintain and taking up half the garage space with gas cans.
