i think ima go the cheap way first using the gravity feed way, so would i have a regular top off, and also an elevated top off with kalk? or use the same one and just elevate? and to confirm when i mix it i only use the dissovled solution right?

I tried that method initially. Jamal at TAP explained it to me. Basically I filled up a 5gl jug with RODI and put 1/2 tsp Kalk in it. Mixed really well and then let it settle. Any undisolved kalk will settle at the bottom. Then you pour the water into your ato, careful to not add the undisolved kalk at the bottom of your jug. Pretty simple.

The 1/2 tsp amount is just what I used based on what my load was, Lucas may only need to start with 1/4 tsp or he may elect to use more. But Im sure that there is a formula out there somewhere to help folks figure out how much they need.

I'm using this method with a tub and gravity fed auto top off.

It is definately a simple and effective means to supplement your tank once you get your levels dialed in.

Here is what I'm using but you can use any container with a flat slide. Also use something with a lid is preferred from what I've read.

So this is what I plan to do, this weekend I’ll be ordering all I need, ( the top half of the page) the 1st expansion piece to my 40 reef, will need more planning to get the funds from my bank! Lol. The reason why for the doser, is so I have control when it doses, I feel a bit uneasy letting it just gravity feed. Not to comfortable with that, and also if in case I need to dose 2 part I can for back up, and plus my dad has over 5 gallons of brightwell magneisum! Idk why he bought so much oh well! What do y’all think?

That jebao pump will be calcified before you know it. I tried it with mine and had to run vinegar through the line at least once a month to prevent it from freezing up on me
