So my hydra 26 light is not working, called customer support and they are sending a replacement power supply. Replacement should take 2-3 days to ship. Do I need to get another light in the meantime or just go with no light for a couple of days??

I have a few corals, zoas, acan, candy cane, torch, Duncan, birds nest, monti, mushrooms. Tank is 3 mo old so everything is small frags.

They wont be particularly happy, but you can definitely go without lights for a couple days. None will die.
I would ramp up the lights over a couple days when you get the new power supply.

Think of it like a storm over the ocean brewing for a couple of days and blocking out the sun... might be a rough ride but the sea life isn’t gonna die.

That makes sense. I had plans to go to the lfs and buy more corals today. [emoji3525]

Well, the new light finally came in but it keeps turning off randomly... super frustrating. Does anyone know if it needs a constant WiFi connection once a schedule is programmed. I’m wondering if it’s an issue with the new light or my internet??

No you don’t need a constant WiFi connection it least I don’t think you do. But if it’s doing that with a new light, probably check your router and all the cables And what not. Try to rule out that it’s not your router/WiFi connection before calling them again.

When you say turning off randomly does are all the leds lighting up. How do you have them mounted and are the fans blocked. If the unit is overheating then it will turn off and then back on when it cools off. I am thinking it’s probably a fan issue. Make sure they are clean and not obstructed.

Definitely want to check the fan to make sure it's running and well ventilated. The heatsinks on my 26's running at 47 watts of power usage out at about 95-110F. Use either a temp probe or infrared thermometer and check the heatsink directly above the light pucks and see how hot it's getting. When I tested mine at full power the heatsink hit 120F and the fan cycled fairly often. If there's a lot of dust built up on it that will also cause the light to run hot. You can use a can of compressed air or a vacuum with a brush attachment to clean the heatsink. Just be sure to keep the fan from spinning up as the use of compressed air can over rev the fan and kill the bearings in it.

If all else fails preform a full reset on the light and see if that clears the issue.

It was only a few months old so no dust. And in an open area no hood, so well ventilated. I had alot of trouble with the first replacement but have had no issues so far with the second replacement. Fingers crossed this one lasts.
