So I have 2 ocellaris and a firefish with ich. I have been told to treat with copper or chloroquine phosphate, but that ch is prescrip only. Does anyone know of any vets that is willing to write prescrip. I live near beaumont and I've found none here...

if its ick you can do tank transfer method. Essentially you move the fish every 3rd day to a new tank of water. You can use 2x5g buckets with air stone/heater. You need to dry the bucket and the heater that you transferred from each time. Just throw away the airstone and use a new one.

If they are already in your tank with ick then it will need to sit fallow (no fish) for 72 days.

Thank you I went and picked another 10 gal tank and new heater and filter and am starting the ttm. I got my new dt tank in and am setting it up from scratch with new sand rock and everything to make sure there is no ich in there. Now how do I make sure the old tank heater and filter are sanitized to make sure I don't cross contaminate?

I fill the tank / bucket with water and vinegar put the heater and whatever else was used and let them soak for 24 hours. I then let everything dry for at least 24 hours before reusing.

Awesome thank you so much. My fishes are doing better. I've been feeding them garlic and vitamin supplements as well and the spots are coming off. I just did the first transfer and they're taking it really well. Would 4 transfers with 3 days in between be enough?

I just use buckets, heaters & air
stone.

I just rinse the bucket/heater with fresh water, dry them with a towel. Then air dry for 3 days then reuse. I throw the air stone away.

I do the same with the net. Rinse in freshwater, air dry until next transfer.

Never had an issue with cross contamination.

OK thanks that's what I'm doing now. It's sunny here so I'm letting sit in the sun after washing.

I agree with throwing away the air stone, I just bought 4 more as I just started TTM for 2 dwarf angels.
I bought like a 5-6 pack at petsmart for about $5 and I'm just going to throw away after every transfer. I bought I bunch of tubing as well to just cut off what I need and then throw away after each transfer.

Well my firefish died. But I think it was a heat issue. My heater didn't turn off and made the temp go up to almost 84. I think I accidentally cooked him. Kids named him alphalpha. Rip alphalpha. The 2 clowns are doing good though. No visible spots and are eating a bit not as much though and swimming around ok.
