I’m going to mail off two Triton test kits and two ICP Analysis tests tomorrow from the exact same tank. I’m about to collect the water and register the tests now. I’ll let everyone know how the results go.

Oh gosh. There’s been so much inaccuracy with that company. I can tell you that none of the pro reefers will use them. Even if those tests come back good this time…I would never trust them. I know Marsh got a good deal, but so did everybody else! I’d call them up and give the rest of their tests back.

Just spend the extra $25 and get a much better quality ICP so you don’t nuke your system. $300 extra for a year of tests (1 every month) or $30,000 because they told you to dose the wrong amount of iodine or wrong product.

Which company are you referring to?

Triton has a terrible website, btw, which is my only takeaway so far in this process.

ICP analysis.

I don’t like Triton because they don’t test RO and other important elements.

They started rounding their numbers.

There’s been several reports of coral farms comparing ICP’s and they’re accuracy has taken a dive.

I obviously like and trust ATI and OCEAMO over the others, but I look at prolly 20-30+ tests a week and that’s not counting those on R2R that I check out.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the results...of your experiment...for sure! I did something similar back in September and I'm about to do it again once all of the test kits come in. When I did it before, for several constituents, Triton would be Off Scale High on one component and ICP Analysis would be Off Scale Low or vice versa. Made troubleshooting impossible. Curious if you will discover the same issue.

We shall see. I’ll post the results as soon as I get them.

I still have a few ICP test kits that I bought from Marsh and just purchased an ATI kit. I was just about to do the same and send both off on the same day to compare. I wanted to get in another week of iodine dosing in before I do since my iodine was low. I'll start a thread on that comparison next week when I send mine in.

I got an email yesterday from Triton saying they received my two samples. I checked ICP Analysis to check the progress and both results are already posted! I’ve already made a spreadsheet and manually entered the results. When comparing sample A to B, the average difference is 5.81% between the two. When comparing B to A, the average difference is 0.52%. Looks like the results a very consistent.

There are a handful of elements they test for that skew the data quite a bit, but the vast majority of the elements had a single digit percentage difference between the two tests, which is very good to see. I will wait until I have the Triton results before I publish the spreadsheet for y’all to inspect the data.

I can't tell if you joking around or not. If not kidding, then I'm confused why B to A is different from A to B. I must be completely misunderstanding your meaning.

Let’s say test A shows calcium at 400 and test B shows it at 500. The difference from A to B is a 25% increase, whereas B to A is a 20% decrease.

Point being, the test kits are fairly precise based off of the two results I got, but we will see if there’s a strong enough correlation with the Triton to establish accuracy.

I got the Triton test results back late last night. I’ve been using excel to calculate the results to form a consensus on accuracy and precision. I think everyone will be happy to see the results.

I hate to say it, but Triton has been pretty inaccurate lately. When I say pretty inaccurate I mean overdose your tank inaccurate.

Recently I saw a 56% decrease with Boron in between 9 days, and 1000% increase with Iron, but had stopped dosing iron due to possible Dino’s starting to from from low nutrients.

I’ve been playing with the four data points I have and there’s really not much difference between the two tests. I need to finish my analysis so and post it.
