Just got a new tank from someone online got a great deal on it! its the IM 25 Lagoon.

Equipment/Setup so far

Went with BRS 4 stage plus RODI unit and Fritz Reef Pro Salt. also went with reef saver rock really liked it in my last tank and decided to go back to it.Forget what sand i go with its just dry Aragonite sand that has served me well in the past.

Jaebo pp4- really impressed with how silent this pump has been... like really silent and way powerful for this size tank-(Next upgrade is the return pump)

IM Refugium Basket w/ Aqua gadget grow light

I took out the filter socks and got one custom basket for the non refugium side as well as a floss holder basket for non refugium side.

planning on running floss on top of custom basket with chemi-pure blue below then another piece of floss in the second chamber, then pond matrix or marinepure but undecided on that portion.

The water temp seems to be okay but added a 100w heater since the actual water volume is so low figured that would be plenty strong enough, I was really surprised how little water the tank takes with Rock and sand.

Okay time for the Question section :)

Has anyone run the sicce or the tunze return pump or have a preference? the stock pump is just too loud!

looking into a cheap light while the tank is Fish only for 6-8 months I have seen allot of good things on the Hipigiro Aqua knight once i start corals i will probably go with something more automated. Anyone have this light that can let me know how they like it?

As far as livestock goes it will be mostly LPS and Softie tank haven't found any sps that really interests me.I Do love acans, candy canes and zoas and would love a RBTA but probably wont put that in.

for fish i want to run a clown pair and i really want a flame angel if i don't get a flame angel i will probably go with a Mandarin i just love them and was the main reason for the Refugium.

but basically just thinking three fish buy them all as small as i can so they all look proportional to each other.

cannot get picture to upload its saying the file is too big so ill keep working on that.

I upgraded the stock pump on mine to the Sicce 1.5. Much quieter than the stock pump AND you get more flow.

Your fuge section isn't going to grow enough pods to sustain a mandarin so you'll have to supplement it's diet with other kinds of foods.

Report back about how the floss works for you because I'd like to switch from socks to floss. I hate the filter socks that come with the 25 Lagoon because they are (necessarily) so narrow and hard to flip inside-out for cleaning. Floss in a media basket seems so much easier!

Yeah i will let you know, i figured replacing floss once or twice a week is easier than socks imo allot of ppl seem to have success with floss in the aio tanks. Still waiting on cycle but i will keep you posted ! Also if anyone can explain adding pictures to the thread that would be great! Getting an error code while uploading saying the file is to big no matter how small i resize it.

I used a Tunze pump for a while in my IM 10. It was very quiet. I'm currently using the IM MightyJet because I wanted more control.

I'm running floss and Chemi-Pure Blue in an InTank basket in the first chamber. Every once in a while I swap it out with the sock. That sock really polishes the water.

5 & 10 micron felt socks polish water better than any amount of carbon I’ve ever used.

Carbon and filter socks really do different things. Socks are a mechanical filtration and carbon is a chemical filtration.

If you want a nice polish of particulates in the water, socks are great. Just time consuming maintenance that I don't do on my system but great for those who like the look.

True that. If you want the absolute most pristine water for pictures. Run the 5-10 socks and Carbon.

Okay, so like i said i got rhe tank cycled and let it go a bit longer just to be sure, went slower than the using a hardy fish method but i feel better about it lol

I ended up going with the pixie30 light after all was said and done and i am really pleased with it! Very bright when tured up but it has four channels of adjustment so thats awesome. All metal construction and sleek little design for $75 you can’t beat it

I am just doing water changes to keep the parameters where i want, have been thinking about the smaller skimmers but haven’t decided and i kinda dont need it to this point .

I took out the fuge setup and the jaebo wavemaker the wavemaker was just blowing my sand everywhere and the fuge was going to be a mandrin but the one chamber just isnt big enough to support the pod population i would need.

The smart ato has been really awesome! I just got a 19qt foodsafe bin and drilled the lid the small footprint will allow me to add more in the stand if i find it necessary later.

As far as livestock goes i have one Ocellaris clown my wife preferred it over snowflake for some reason, im going to add another smaller one soon i just wanted to let the tank stabilize for a bit. I’ll be adding a nem soon and a few lps, thanks to everyone who stayed till the end of this update hope y’all like it!

Just remembered you asked but the floss works great! so easy to just cut a few pieces every week when i do my water change mine could probably go two weeks because my system doesnt have allot in it yet. It’s hard to beat just pulling the chambers up grabbing the old ones and putting the new ones in.

Okay, so just a quick update Added some snails since I was dealing with diatom bloom once I started running the light on a proper schedule also added some GFO. That took care of the issue phosphates are back in check. I also rearranged the rocks due to wanting to start adding corals and my scape wasn't quite right.

I also kept losing my light remote control so I grabbed some abs plastic and made a little holder simple little project but pretty proud of how it came out as well as the look inside the cabinet.
