so ive heard about the water supply is houston being overdosed with ammonia... ok i got that. But yesterday i swapped out my sediment, carbon and Di (did membranes 100 gallons ago) then i started it up and was getting 00ppm, today after having made 100 gallons its already reading 08ppm. Is the water really that bad or is there something wrong with my system?

Not that quick man. Check your filters and make sure they are going in the proper direction. I put mine in upside down one time and that made my numbers high.

How old is your TDS meter. Could it be bad or hooked up wrong?

Are you seeing 8ppm after the RO membrane or 8ppm after the DI resin?

If DI are you using color changing resin?

If so - does it already show to be exhausted?

Did you pack the resin tightly? It its loose you can get channeling which in effect bypasses the majority of the resin in your canister.

ok i went out and checked it again... when i first looked it was not running and was ready 11ppm. then i turned it on and it dropped down to 0ppm. its a 150gallon vertex thats less than a year old. The tds meter is plugged into the di. i guess if its reading 0ppm when its running then thats all i should be concerned with?

This... I was having the exact same issue after I started using the re-usable DI resin filter tube and was not packing it tightly. As soon as I packed it tight it was OK again.

This is the first time I've heard about that. I'm about to go test my RO/DI water
yea apparently its a thing, i heard oceanlife had to stop selling water for a while because it was just getting too costly, they have since ordered some high tech stuff to help battle the problem. I was in a store yesterday and they were saying that they had to higher prices to combat the issue. i wouldnt expect that many people would even notice the issue except for people in our hobby. once the city opens back up on tuesday im gonna ask someone from my office to call and ask about it. Im curious why they would do it, was it on purpose or by accident and if it was on purpose, what was the issue. Or maybe they didnt do anything at all.
