So I wake up this morning, to see my hippo with a cloudy eye... i thought she was going blind but I do more research and i think it’s flukes. Maybe skin flukes? I caught her and put her in a 3min freshwater dip, and now I have her in a fish container with tank water. To isolate her from my other fish. Not sure what to do.... I’m eye balling my 10g tank that’s sitting on my night stand and just do a qt tank. If I do that tho I’d have to run to pet smart and get a cheap hob and heater.

Really first step is do y’all think/ know this is flukes?? Pic below

It does look like Flukes. When you did the FW dip, can you see anything in the water that have dropped off?
Does he still have the cloudy eye after the dip? HOB is a good idea, but for a small tank, you can do away with just an air stone or powerhead.

I have no meds. And no I did not see anything in the water. She still has a cloudy eye. Decided to put her back in the tank. Has anyone tried the “natural” method, putting a cleaner shrimp and a cleaner wrasse and having them deal with it? To be completely honest, I don’t have the patience nor time to give my full attention to messing with meds so I would try to stay clear of that if I can.

Also I did another fw dip 1hr after the first one and following instructions from gallery aquatica tv on youtube, I tried to get the fluke off with my finger and that failed.

Did you see any white sesame seed looking things drop off when you did the FW dip? Flukes exposed to FW will look like what you see below, maybe just not so numerous if the infestation is light.

Ok, so after talking to nick at ola and a few other guys that were at ola today, came to the conclusion that is she just ran in the rock and scratched her eye. Nothing like what @Humblefish pictured here and I saw ur thread that u made in 2015. I have that saved for future reference lol. She is still eating and I feed pellets 3 times a day and forzen Mix at least once a day but sometimes 2 times a day. And she gobbles it up. Also she is still her active self “playing” with my yt both are the same size. So I think this is a false alarm but I’ll monitor closely. Btw lowkey soo cool that @Humblefish chimed in really is awesome all the knowledge you bring to our community!!

Least I can do for my brothers & sisters in H-Town. I visit there every year, and even once lived in Houston for 4 months. I like your museums, LFS and food (especially Little Pappasito's and Fish Pond Restaurant up north). But your traffic scares the hell out of me. :p

Are you coming to reef currents this year? I agree with u on the traffic, I hate it. I stick to west side Katy area. Only venture close to downtown for OLA and FJW.

👆 katy is absolutely cray cray.. everyone drives like the world belongs to them and everyone needs to just get out of the way, its ok when you have one person driving like that (me) but completely chaotic when everyone does it.

Yea I’m a pretty aggressive driver when I’m on the freeway, I don’t care to lay on my horn for a good min, especially when someone is texting and doesn’t look and changing lanes. They get the horn and the sound of my turbos as I pass them. 😂 I primarily take peek rd and fry rd south of i10 it gets me to school and back home and a lot of food options.

Unfortunately, that's right when we'll be moving. :( I'll probably be driving a Uhaul the first week of May.

Not having a lot of experience driving maybe you should back off on the aggressive driving? As far as laying on your horn, yeah there are a lot of inconsiderate drivers but is it really worth being shot for? Too many hot heads on the road why tempt your fate?

True true, aggressive is a bit of a strong word, and I did type that after I woke up, so was still groggy, I do pick me battles right, by aggressive I really meant to say defensive, like if the person swerves into my lane they get a horn tap or a flicker of my high beams, if they do it again then I’ll do a longer horn tap like 10 secs, and pass them if I can. But other than that I try to stay relax but I never let my guard down. I’ve would’ve been in a lot of accidents if I hadn’t been aware. I feel like I have to be more aware for others than my self. But that’s just me. I put on my country musics and I’m cool.

Yea, Steve is right. People will shoot your ********* in this town. I wouldn't beep, flash lights, or even give them a dirty look. Just do your defensive move and keep going like it never happened. They know they are idiots and obviously don't care or they wouldn't be driving that way. You reminding them isn't going to make them suddenly change their ways. But it sure might get the wrong person following you to wherever you are going, unbeknownst to you. Then surprise......I was a cop in my former life. I know how this works.
