One of my fish has white bubbles all over its tail and around the edges of his dorsil fins. Another fish has white dots, that I thought was small shell fragments on his skin. Does this sound like Ick?

NE1 Got pic's of Ick so that I could compare?

Thanks

small white dots sounds more like ick. here's a picture of it in a freshwater fish. it looks the same in saltwater.

the bubbles are probably just bubbles.

Yeap, thats what it looks like. I saw no indication of it last night at midnight, and now I have lost one fish (Diamond Gob), and have a 3 stripe dams that has so much buildup on its fins it appears to be chunks of salt buildup. I will try to post some pic's.

Could be parasites maybe fish mites. My tang has a few similar spots that im fighting with to save my favorite fish.

ouch... those are some sick fish!

the 3 stripe damsel definitely has a lot of finrot on the caudal fin. tons of ich, too. i guess the question is whether you want to save them or euthanize them to prevent infection of other fish. they definitely need to be quarantined. what's stressing them out so badly that they're so sick?! if it's nothing you can see, it might be poor water quality (brand new tank?). you'd definitely be best off getting rid of the cause before you think about getting any other fish.

i haven't been in saltwater for much more than a couple years (most of my fish experience is from freshwater tanks and ponds), so can the common fish bacterial and fungal infections pose threats to inverts? Disregard that something in the tank is seriously out of balance. Let's assume you bring home a fish that you didn't inspect thoroughly, so you missed a couple ich spots until after you already added him to the tank. any ideas/experiences?

Inverts are immune to the diseases that infect fish although their are some infections that shrimp and what not can get.

all fish have SOME ich. The main point is to not over stress the fish. Doing so will lower their immune systems so that they will become good hosts for it to breed in.

That is a myth you can keep ich out of your tank if you QT and do not add water from LFS coral tanks conected to fish only tanks. To be brutally honest in my opinion Marine Ich (Cryptocaryon irritans) which actually has no realtion to Fresh water Ich (Ichthyophthirius multifilis) is either becuase one bought a sick fish to start with or because ones water quality is less than desirable (outside of Tangs). You will most often find out breaks of Marine Ich in new tanks. If you have a healthy fish to start with and good water quality most the fish we keep are bullet proof (as long as they stay in the water and away from carpet surfing.)
