So I recently moved back in with my dad for a few weeks until the corona blows over and holy cow it's hot! A small room at the corner of the house with little insulation and a water heater in the closet. My nano tank is now at a constant 80° instead of the usual 78°. My reefer 250 is ok since it has more water volume. I did alot of research last night and ended up deciding on a dual hose Toyotami it should be here by the end of the week.

My question is at what temperature do coral and fish start to decline in health? How long before I need to start freezing rodi water in ice cubes?

A fan blowing on the tank can help a bunch as well. Stability is key but I would really try and stay under 81.

I never goes above 80, it hovers right at around 79.8. Luckily its only about 90 today, if it was 100 degrees I think I would be in trouble. Im just hoping it doesn't get any hotter until i get this ac unit. The room this baby is cooling is about a 10 x 10 foot room. Very small, im looking forward to winter in my room.

I've had them up to 85° a few times (portable A/C quit working) but I wouldn't recommend it.

I think I’ve kept all my tanks at 80 plus or minus two degrees. Especially back in the Halide days.

My mixed reef tanks in the fish room were getting up to 84 during the day. I put a window unit in the room now everything is great.

$11 clip on fan can do wonders, in my case (120gallon) one fan drops the temp down about 3+ degrees.

Or you could save the $11 and just wave a hand fan over it all day.

I stopped in a shop near Shreveport one time. Barely air conditioned. Halides. Tank was above 80F and thriving. I expressed surprise at the lack of a chiller and the owner said he kills the lights if it gets too hot - been too long for me to remember what too hot was in his mind, but I definitely think it was well over 80F.
