For those that have a lawnmower blenny, what types of algae do y’all see them eating?

I had one that ate a type of hair algae but then after it was gone he died because it wouldnt eat anything else I gave it.

They will eat most types of nuisance algae especially hair as others have mentioned. I had one that got a taste for meaty foods and would go nuts and nearly jump out of the tank when it was feeding time trying to get to it before everyone else. He would eat so much they his belly would be so swollen that he couldn't lay flat on the sand bed. The front half of his body would be raised up off the sand. This was also the same guy that spent 90% of the day defending his territory against his reflection in the glass and thus digging out large ruts in the sand bed.


Named him Rigel after the character from Farscape.

lol my blenny will eat all just diatoms but he does eat everything else and has a tendency to rip algae strips off the tank walls
