I currently have 3x150W MH lights on a 72" 125gal tank and would like to go to LED, can anyone recommend an equivalent LED set up? I see this light on Marine Depot but not sure if it will have enough strength. I currently only have LPS but would like to add SPS at some point.

Looking for some pointers from somebody with a 72" tank who has already made the switch.

Thanks in advance

The current led fixture is very narrow you probably won't get good coverage even for LPS. Not sure how wide is your tank possibly 18"-24" but you need something with more coverage. You can try the black box led, AI, or Radions it all depends on your budget. You can also try LED/T5 combo for great color mix.

I converted from 3-250 MH to T5s/leds.

You could do something like this:

This is 5 of the 165w black box leds and two rows of t5 fluorescent.

Might I suggest not doing away with MH but instead just add LED to the mixture.

Dont do the Current USA. Its weak, even that PRO version. It has some cool features built in but the lighting is subpar for even LPS in my opinion. Try and find the PAR charts for it and youll see that its not the greatest. You're better off buying some chinese black boxes. I recommend the Mars Aqua brand. They have very basic models with manual controls that are very affordable <$200, as well as more expensive options with programming settings. The light is insane for the price.

I have seen lots of good results from the mars aqua and similar. If you want more features look to AI, Ecotech and GHL. All of them will grow anything you want but operate a little different. No matter what on you choose you will need more units than they recommend. I use AI Hydra52 on my 120. AI recommends 2, I do not see where I could get by with less than 3 because of coverage issues. I ended up using 4 since I got a good deal on some barley used ones. On a 6 ft tank, based on my experience, I would plan for 4 units minimum. Make the mounting plan expandable incase you need to add down the line.

You want to come over and check out my led set up your welcome. Spent a lot of money trying out different ones
before settling on what I run now. My coral growth is fantastic and price is very reasonable. several reef stores are now
running these leds also
