I have had my red/orange Linkia for two years now, which is pretty exciting considering the one time I tried a blue one, I think it only lived a month or two. I was curious how long others have been able to keep them.

At one point late last year, it looked like it might be dying - it seemed less active and thin. It just so happened that I had recently ordered Dr. Tim's Eco-Balance bacteria product to see if it would help some of my Acros (sadly, not really). Once I started dosing that, and putting some near the star if it was handy during dosing, the star started looking active and healthy again.

think they are hardier, but I have had a blue for a few yrs also

That’s good info to know about Dr. Tim’s. I’ve had a couple of red ones last about a year but not much longer. The blue ones are fascinating too and seem rare to see.

I should have updated this sooner. Mine died in August, so I had it about 2 and a half years.

I think that's pretty dang good for a starfish. Not sure what their lifespan is, but it can't be long.

I currently have 9 orange ones and 2 blue, The 2 blue are differnt from the regular blue linkia and I rarely see them. I think having a lot of rock helps them survive.

Wow, that's impressive - I didn't know they could live that long. My tank has a lot of established live rock, but maybe it lacks the right kind of bacteria or something.

Dang, that's awesome! My tank has been up for about 8 years. Maybe I should give one a try!
