What do you guys think of these? I sorta get tired of being stuck on it for an hour(s). I’ve watched a bit of Harry’s and LAX and honestly the prices are really good.

I’ve also seen the ones on R2R where they update a thread intermittently with pictures and I couldn’t stand it.

(ICYMI: people selling hundred or so corals via a live broadcast auction type deal.)

The only live sales I've ever seen are the JF ones conducted or advertised on MARSH. Only once have I ever succeeded in actually getting something during the live sale, although I have gotten some good stuff in the unsold area. It's just too frustrating to spend hours and come away empty handed.

On one of the first ones I watched, someone actually posted admitting how they cheated. They noticed the URL for each coral was some common string followed by a sequential number. They simply typed the URL with a number a few numbers ahead of the currently posted one, and were able to buy it before it was posted. Not cool. Note to @gregg - please use a random number generator or something to try to prevent such naughty behavior.

well i can give you some tips...
  • you wanna store your payment details in your browser for faster checkout
  • checkout one at a time, do not save items in your cart, they will be gone.
  • wait a little while and be patient, dont try to grab everything during peak hours, dinner time is usually slower period
  • visit the vendors website directly from time to time during the sale and look to see what other people may have missed, they are going so fast on the forum that people miss corals that are just sitting in the store waiting.
  • hang out and play some games if they have them, you might win some free stuff.
  • dont try a live sale from your phone... use a laptop or desktop computer
  • check back the next day for the after sale, you might find some great deals that you can still add to your box.

as far as people cheating, this cant happen in one of our sales simply because the product is never published until the url is shared, so even though you may be able to figure out the future url's they would just get a 404 error because the product page doesn't exists yet. But you are correct, some vendors dont have the manpower to do that and they just publish the corals in dumps and people might be able to jump ahead.

This weekend one of our MARSH Sponsors @Zoanthids and Ultra Corals is having a live sale both saturday and sunday on R2R. This company really knows how to have a live sale! You will have plenty of chances to get some really nice corals at a crazy discount. 1700 corals! They are also giving away an Apex and a Trident and a bunch of other stuff. So maybe come by and give live sales another chance. @OceansX and myself will be running the sale and @Cody will be the game master.... so be sure to say hello and if your having issues holler at one of us.

here is a link to the sale: CLICK HERE

Live sales are the butter to my bread... what is it you don’t like? You must not have joined in on one of the sales we run because codybot brings the excitement to keep you around.

I didn’t know y’all were so involved in these. I’ll have to give it a look.

To be clear, the format is a picture release on r2r and then checkout on the vendor site?

I’m not in to them.

I sit in front of a computer monitor 8-10 hours/day Monday-Friday for a living. I don’t want to spend a Saturday or Sunday in front of a monitor on the off chance I might beat a bunch of other people out on a coral.

I enjoy them, or I used to. I really want so few corals now I try to be more discerning. Watching a live sale I buy on a whim and wind up with stuff I really don't have room for..... I get caught up in the action! LOL

Hate the live sales myself. Try all day refreshing the forums and whatnot and leave with only a coral or two. The ones on here are definitely better, but the R2R ones are crazy, so many people. You get to the point when its more panic clicking just hoping to get anything and leave with nothing. I've been disappointed every time.

I have only participated in one live sale, it was a WWC sale on R2R.

Had no issues getting 7 or 8 SPS frags before hitting my spending limit, which albeit wasn't that high to begin with. Nothing super rare but I was happy with what I got. Really only spent two maybe three hours watching it and that was in-between doing other things around the house.

I could see if your being super selective how doing a live sale would be boring and pointless, but for someone stocking a new tank or re-booting they are great.

The format is a buy button on r2r which is 2 clicks faster than on the vendor site.

Zoanthids.com is a top-teir MARSH sponsor so here's the link to the sale:

Check out that first post & pop in for a good chance to win something: Apex, Trident, Gyre, Black's BBQ, $250 gift cards, & more;

AND Of course many great chances for awesome corals. I'm personally not into zoa's, but I have purchased many other corals from Zoanthids.com over the years from Cyanaria's, Bowerbanki's, and many. many other LPS and encursters.
