Well the time has come, thinking about trading down to a 300ish gallon tank. Looking for feedback on dimensions of new tank.

Thinking: 303 gal

1. 90 x 30 x 26 tall , 3 sides starfire , black back , PVC bottom , stainless steel frames , 2 corner overflows -

2. Steel stand powder coated with leveling feet, includes 4" tall PVC drip pan

Perfect dims but If I were you I would 30 tall. The view is so much better on tall tanks.

My next tank will be 30" tall with 400/watts MH. :)

Trading down? What does one do with a used 10'x4' tank? Donate it to a zoo?

My 8 foot reef is 25.5 tall (weird dimensions) and I agree that an extra couple of inches looks good on a long tank. How tall is the big guy? When I get my 10-12 foot reef someday- I will probably do 28-30". My FOWLR is 36" and works for fish only but when something hits the sand you aren't moving it again without tongs. Would be a pain when working with corals.

I have tongs, so reaching the bottom is not that big a deal. I have 4-5 " of crushed coral in my tank now with 30" height, which nets me about 25-27" from sand bed to top.

New tank will have 1" sandbed.

Wanna trade plus cash. Just saying I am in the process of remodeling my living room to house my 340 and yours would maybe fit a baby orca.

I have 8 radion pros over my 240gal. 60x48x22. I can't turn it up over 43% or I will bleach Coral. Not one of the scenarios where more is better

Which i thought was crazy at first.
Now... I believe the more coverage over the tank the better, even if you have to turn them way down to compensate.
More coverage = less shadowing.

Has anyone see those new Lani led fixtures? Full tank coverage! They are on the right path.
