If he is a friend you may have gotten the I don't want to be bugged with every question forever mark-up.
That comment made me smile, sounds like something spoken by someone who’s worked in a trade before and knows that doing a Buddy a solid always ends up in soooo much more work with every little question. LoL

Don’t mind me asking how much was the total labor/material cost (rough estimate)?
excluding gen cost.

Neat, you fixed your photos, I was worried they knocked over your house. Also, is that panel ro/di running through the wall? If so, custom or is there a thing you can get? I'm thinking of running waste water outside to water things.

It’s for automatic water changes, I store 100gallons of salt and 100gallons of fresh outside as well as the supply ato with the rodi unit outside as well. @Cody custom made and installed it.

Super nice setup!! assuming it runs a self diagnostic once a week? Are you tied to a generac maintenance plan? This is the other end of the spectrum, whole house generator for sure! Make sure to keep you pinky up when drinking your coffee during the power outage as your neighbors stare in envy.

Currently it’s setup to run a test every Tuesday night. There was no maintenance plan. It does make a little noise but I can’t hear it running when I’m inside.

No solar yet, they just got the standoffs done today, but powerwall is setup and working. Did a test and the clocks did not need to be set after.

Educate me... when the power goes out how long does this setup power the house and will it power everything?

Is it wrong I kinda was hoping the power would go out in the rain today so I could test my generator? 🤷🏻‍♂️

So wrong dude :kev: :nono: :lmao:

I was so worried about my TV and radions. Something happened our master bath no power. I did reset the breaker but nothing.

I intentionally got enough power walls to power everything, A.C. and electric dryer. After I ordered they did bump the stats so I could have gotten fewer and just had less run time. Rough math, I have more powerwall than my house can possibly pull. I have a 100A circuit, and it looks like latest specs have them doing a combined 175A continuous. Looks like the new stats also say they can do 118A LRA start, so technically now just one could start my A.C and run all my loads. If you never go above 14kW continuous, 2 powerwalls could backup a 200A panel. 4 powerwalls would be capable of putting out enough juice continuous that you would trip the main 200A breaker before you stressed them.

For how long, depends on usage... Each one has 13.5kWh of power. Assuming the inverters are perfect, which they are not, that is 40.5kWh meaning 1,000w for 40.5 hours. That is assuming zero sun. When ordering I looked over all my electric bills from last summer, found the highest use one, then the highest use day, and got enough storage to run everything for at least 12 hours. Since most of that is during the day and would be a full sun day, I should get enough juice during the day to refill the batteries and last the night. I also picked the amount of panels to get close to covering my highest use day. I can't run the solar yet as I need permission to back feed the grid, but the installers did some tests and I was getting ~1-4kW with 100% cloud coverage. It will be interesting to get real world numbers, but I should be close to indefinite run time barring bad weather days.

And how does the cost compare to a full house generator like Gregg has?
So, he listed his at about $10k, the setup I chose is $50k, but I make enough to take full advantage of the 26% tax credit which should get me about $13k refund on federal taxes leaving me at $37k. So, 3.7x the up front cost. However, I have solar and Reliant does solar buyback so mine will save me $ every month. How much will it save me on elec? I hope to get permission to connect and start getting real world numbers to figure that out. The Tesla installers said 1-3 weeks for permission from Centerpoint. Tesla worked out a plan with them where they take photos and do standard installs so they can submit to Centerpoint for a photo inspection and approval. If Centerpoint needed to come out in person, their inspection wait time is 6 months atm.

Next clear blue sky at noon, I plan on disconnecting from the grid for an hour or so and connecting the solar so I can see what my peak generation is. Not illegal for me to use it, just fines from Centerpoint if they detect me feeding power into the grid.
