So im going to be making a 5 or 10 gallon tank in the next few months. Its probably just going to have coral and a watchman goby in it. For the sandbed i was thinking about 3 to 4 inches. I don't know what to do about the filter and stuff so this is where you guys come in. Oh and the lights.

Well input is welcomed and appreciated.

I really don't want to use a skimmer for this tank. I will do the DIY led lights. I want to be able to keep sps coral.

I don't know i was thinking of just trying to find a super small powerhead. This is why I welcome input.

in a tank that size you wont need power heads at all jus buy a good pump for the return and you will be set. You should do a 55 gal sump!!!

for a 5 to 10 gal i would go with this:
go with 10 gals.

and for filtration:

or a skimmer for sapphire as i stated before.

no need for a sump. you can get away with a water change once per month, i did it on my 55 gal and things are thriving. i had no fish in the tank, but i'm sure it would be the same with a single fish. I think 2 inches is good enough for that fish, 4 inches plus rocks in a 10 gal would give you about 4 gals of total water volume, maybe even 5. unless your are planning on using few rocks.
