Do you use Marine pure in your systems?
If so, please let me know what type and your experience using it.

Has the thing we've all heard about leaching aluminum ever been proven?

I purchase some of these bio balls that are made of microbeads glued together.
Anyone else using these?

I think they work, but there have been multiple reports even from Randy Farley that they do leech aluminum into the water column. Although it seems to be a small amount and when I ran them for over 3 years I didn’t notice any negative effects.

Why risk it, get some Siporax. I have the large rings that were imported from Germany (they stack better), but the small rings come in nice little mesh bags.

I have some more large rings in my garage that I’m not using. If you can’t find any, let me know. I might part with some. I bought 50 liters initially.

I used the blocks and rock in my RS 750XXL and moved the blocks and added the bio-balls to the small frag tank.
Same as Tenny - "Don't know how well they work but they don't seem to cause problems."

I moved the blocks to my new frag tank that is cycling, but I am considering using something else. I just don't know what to use yet.

I've also been using the 4" block and the Spheres for a couple years.
The aluminum leaching thing bothers me as does the brittleness of the Marine pure in general.
These new spheres I got shouldn't have that problem of breaking down into dust like marinepure.

Can you please post a link to what you got? I would like to get some and replace the blocks I added to my new frag tank ASAP.

They're made by Maxspect, here is the link for the spheres:
(BRS sells a version of these but you only get half for the same price, so definitely avoid BRS for these)

They also have the block style media that is made the same way. I'm pretty sure i'll be replacing my marinepure blocks with these soon for peace of mind:

Thanks!

Actually, I just realized that I bought the Maxspect Nano-tech Bio-Spheres about a month ago from FJW, and I won the Maxspect Nano-Tech Bio-Block during the Christmas Party raffle! forgot I moved the Marine Pure into the canister filter of my QT, so I just need to remove the Marine Pure blocks and get rid of them.
