Are these guys loud?

Only if you don't train them properly and provide them with plenty of toys.

Actually, if you put your head in the tank or had an underwater microphone, I wouldn't be surprised if you could hear them munching on the rocks, but I never heard anything.

I only asked because when snorkeling or diving, a lot of times I can hear them crunching the rocks... wondered if that was amplified in an aquarium kinda like a pistol shrimp snap

Generally no, but hard to say for sure. I sometimes saw him poking around the Turbinaria and some other LPS corals, but I could never tell if he was actually eating polyps or just poking around and causing them to retract. A lot of the LPS corals were not doing so well when I had him, but I think that was the start of the period of 0 nitrate, phosphate, and iodine that killed most of them, so I can't say for sure if he contributed to their demise. I definitely never saw him messing with SPS corals. I might be tempted to try another one, but they're pretty expensive. I know reeftopia has had several and never had a problem with them.

That looks awesome Shawn! What coral is that?
Don’t remember, I believe I found the name of it once. It is an Australian coral Imi believe. I bought it as a no name colony.

Here is the link to what I believe it might be.
