March 2021 REEFING LOSS

1614714529625.png

This month we are totally going a different route. It's sad but it could be a good thing for the winner could help get a little something back in the tank. It's the DEAD CORAL or FISH contest. It would help if you describe what happened and how long you had it to earn those Votes. YES, we all had that unlucky death from something small to something big like a Tank Crashed!
As many of us had lost power and water during last month's epic event, here is a way to mourn those losses! Even those that had something in the long ago, they too can also be entered.

Going super morbid with this one...

I had 3 fish in my tank at the time of the freeze. I went and stayed with my parents when my house lost power (I have 3 kids including 9 month old twins). After 24 hours of no power I came to check on the house and tank. Temp was about 60 degrees. The fish are still alive in this picture. 24 hours later, tank was 52 degrees and everything was dead.

I was surprised they were still alive at that one day mark with the temp low and I was so hopeful the power would come back and save everything. The clowns were always together, but there was something sweet about the firefish being welcomed closer as they froze and suffocated.

Attempt 1 at a tank is done and attempt 2 is going strong. 174320a28fd911aa5d8c32f2d57cafc7.jpg

The concept is to give back to those that lost something. I know 75$ is not much compared to what has been lost but it's the thought that counts. Here is a chance to grief and show others what you have lost in the past and keep moving forward in this hobby! There have been times where I wanted to quit myself after a wipeout, but here on MARSH we help and support each other thru all of this!

Cheers!

Since going to SPS tank was on its 2 year anniversary in February. Texas freeze killed it ?
Taking this time to change out rock work, same towers but shorter now.
Geez! This makes me so sad

This thread is depressing... so I am going to mix it up.

Here is a picture of my PBT that made a 100% recovery and is the ********************* of my tank!

Here is a video of the tank with him swimming around... I have no idea what the purpose of this video was... but here it is. Also RIP flasher wrasse. Both of them have jumped out of the tank, but my g/f saw one of them jump and we were able to save him/her. The other didn't survive. Yes I have a lid on the top and there's less than 1/4" gap and they still managed to jump out!
