A fraction is a representation of a part of something. We can represent fractions on the number line by diving two numbers in between which the fraction is.

**Let us take the example of the fraction half :-**

The fraction lies between zero and one.

A proper fraction is a fraction in which the numerator is always less than the denominator.

Improper fractions are fractions in which the numerator is greater than the denominator.

Mixed fractions are fractions which contain a whole number along with a fraction.

Equivalent fractions are fractions which have the same value. It is always advised to give the answer in the simplest terms to give the right value.
