I hardly ever go to r2r, but I went on their marketplace the other night. These were literally sold as mini colonies. What’s going on with this?

And here are some other frags for sale. Look at how tiny they are. Who’s buying this junk? Bleached out blue pics for a quarter of an inch frag that will take years to grow out to anything respectable. Who looks at these and thinks they’re a good deal? Strange thing is, these type of posts are selling, and selling fast.

I guess if you've got more money than brains...

It must be all in the marketing, sort of like when you buy the most stripped-down version of a car and it's called the "deluxe" edition.

It makes me appreciate that much more the awesome pack of 12 Acros I got for $200 from a MARSH member.

Yeah it’s a great thing to build a community that way. I definitely love hooking up friends, but part of you wonders if you could sell those flakes of corals for a stupid amount to people outside of town as well. I mean, it’s so bizarre to see what our community as a nation is paying for these things. The pics I posted weren’t even the worst offenders.

The whole "mini colony thing" and naming of corals is a ridiculous joke IMO. But hey people are willing to part with their money for it and sad to say I'm one of those people on occasion.

I was over there on legitimate business involved in a wonderful sale for stickheads. Ended up with 10 frags some highend RR Canada Pink Cadillac, RP Purple Monster for an average of 35$ per frag. I can’t say who’s sale but rumors are he is coming to Houston.

That’s not even a true Tyree purple monster.

Oh well I will grow it for a while. If I like it I will keep it. If I don’t I will frag it and let other people try it for free. It cost me 25$ to try it.

LOL, I saw those frags listed as mini colonies... almost commented and asked where are the pics of the mothers or mini colonies but decided to keep my comment to my self. Some of those people are crazy

Something tells me the days of overpaying for a photoshopped coral with a funny name are about to come to an end.
Yeah we will see. If the economy takes a dive, it will surely effect it.

Judging by the amount of Live Sales still going on and pretty much all corals selling at an almost record pace, I have my doubts.
Don't get me wrong, I am all about much more affordable prices for all of us consumers, but it doesn't look like the trend peak curve is flattening or starting to dive (yet).

@I Am Poor: I'll gladly stop by your place and help you remove your lights so I can take home one of those mini-colonies! :p
Heck, with this traffic, I'll be there in 5 minutes. LOL
