So after Ike I had a MASSIVE algae outbreak. So after lowering feeding to almost nothing. And trying absolutely EVERYTHING to get rid of the algae, I broke down and picked up Algaefix. I don't recommend it, but I had extenuating circumstances. Most of my corals were being overcome with algae, and one way or the other they were going to die.
So here are some pictures of my new rock work after me scrubbing all my rocks for ours.

I was in the same boat man, after countless rock scrubbings and 3 different containers of phosphate remover and my fish starving I broke down and did the same. but you know what, the cyno disappeared in 2 days and after one week of treatment and a scrub of my rock, I haven't had any hair algae come back. I still see some small patches and it's very short, but it hasn't been able to come back like it use to. now I still run phosguard and carbon and keep a light feeding schedule and the macro seems to be able to outcompete the HA and cyno. so with no coral or invert or fish casualties, I got to say the product makes it claims.
my 2 cents

bristle worm...and for the most part they are harmless detritus eaters. some people have reported that they kill things, but mostly the animal was either dead or dying and the worms took advantage.

btw...i love the live rock pillar. how did you create it? acrylic rods, pvc???
