Well first let me say that if anyone has a big UV laying around, i could sure use it.

Here are some pictures.

I have added a few fish and basically finished all the rock work. I have been just trying to keep things stable. Still have to finish skinning the stand and got other things to complete also. The stand has not been stained or completed so ....

Fish added are a Hawian Blue Jaw trigger, sohal tang, 9 green chromis, a huge Achilles tang. Everyone is doing great so far.

Added the large Fiji Yellow leather(thanks Apollo) and an anenome thats doing very well(thanks David). Not done yet as its always ongoing.

Here are a few current pictures

well as for the hinge question. I used 1/2" blonde wood and the hidden style hinges were hard to find to accomadate the 1/2" and still look ok. Also the cost of $4 a hinge versus $1.5. When staining, you wont notice them as much. I was first going to do it in dark cherry but may do it in a dark maple so they wont be noticed. If so then I willl change them to black. This setup wont be here for very long maybe a year or less. Then I am going to do a big tank. I didnt want to spend alot of time and effort in the stand because there are things I would change already that I hate about it.

I am not going to build another right now as the logistic nightmare of pulling it all down and keeping livestock healthy just to correct some issues I am not happy with. I will just live with them for now.

I am making notes of all the things I dont like to correct on the next build for sure

yes it is and he is doing dreat. the powder blue didnt like him at first but all is calm now.

I am looking at some other hinges now after the comments. May look better but will have to see if they will work.

David, see the anenome in the second picture? thats the one that came from you and is doing great.

You must be referring to Gus. Yes he is as big if not the same size as the achiles tangs we both have. he came from James some time ago.

He was a little sick so J wouldnt sell him to me right away. He stayed medicated in quarantine for a few weeks.

He is doing great also

Chris, when you get ready to re-skin that cabinet .. you let me know.. I have table saw, woodworking tools and a nice shop that we can work in... I can help you out. I assume you made that huge door to accomidate the large sump you have.... if that be the case... we can make false doors that can open wide... you have helped me enuff... I will be more than happy to give you a hand on this... Cope.

Thank you That is the bare wood that has not been stained yet. I still have some places that need sanding and work but its about 90% outside of staining and some trim work.

Thanks for the offer and as always call me and I will help as much as I can.

hey man... drew this up real quick for you... so instead of cutting panels from on 4x8 sheet of plywood.... we could make one panel that you can attach to the frame... making it like your kitchen cabinets. we can cut 2" frame work and cut the doors from the left over plywood... making the door approx 1" larger than the opening.. as far as the open area on the side of the tank... make a panel (looks like a door) put velcro on it so you can access the stuff inside.. I assume you have made a 2x4 or 4x4 frame stand and then nailed your door panel to it.... Thinking we can just remove that panel and replace it with the new panel...do not know the sizeof the tank... but we could prob make this from 3 sheets of birch or oak plywood..... like I said ... I have a tablesaw and the tools to make this.... you just say when and we could knock this out over a weekend....

notice the two doors that are one unit.... makes it look like 2 doors when closed .. but opens up enuff to access your sump area...
